This was the third match I have attended this season. The other two were losses to Chelsea and Wigan, and I was beginning to think I was a bad luck charm. Thankfully I have finally seen Spurs get some points.

Here are my thoughts on the match:
When Andre Villas Boas was unveiled as Tottenham manager I was excited. I thought it was a brave, forward thinking appointment. Some fans and a large proportion of the media didn’t seem to agree. Since then AVB has had his ups and downs and the jury is still out. He seems to polarise opinion; some like him and want him to succeed, some hate him and mock his every decision. I’m not sure whether he will ultimately be a success, nor whether he’ll be given the time, but here’s why I for one think he’s worth persevering with.
One of the things that our match against Arsenal demonstrated was the good and bad sides of Gareth Bale. On the positive side he was one of our most dangerous players, even after Adebayor was sent off and the game had swung in Arsenal’s favour, Bale was still causing problems and giving us some small hope of an unlikely comeback. He scored the second goal and if he had just slid the ball across to Defoe when through shortly afterwards we could have got the third goal which would have really tested Arsenal’s nerve.

Many years ago I used to like the analysis on Match of the Day. That could have been because I was young and naive but I like to think it was because it used to be good. Those days are long gone and nowadays I find it almost unwatchable. In fact most of the time I record it and fast forward through the gaps between highlights.
I have just watched some of Spurs vs. Maribor in the Europa League. It was an interesting match and we won but I just can’t get excited about this competition. It is the European equivalent of the League Cup. Winning it would be nice, but when the games come round they just seem like a distraction.
