This weekend sees a repeat of the fixtures on the opening day of the season. A lot has changed at White Hart Lane since then, and it is two different managers who meet in the game this afternoon.

Spurs should improve while Arsenal deteriorate

Before the season began, much was made of the success of Spurs’ transfer strategy. The conventional wisdom was that Daniel Levy had turned a potentially disastrous negative – the loss of Gareth Bale – into a positive. We may have lost our best player, but we had ended up with a much more balanced squad. Well at least that was the narrative the media had chosen.

- 442 works at home against Stoke but we may need a rethink at Old Trafford on Wednesday. A mixture of Eriksen coming infield and, suprisingly, Adebayor tracking back made sure we weren’t overrun in midfield.
The Problem With Match of the Day
Many years ago I used to like the analysis on Match of the Day. That could have been because I was young and naive but I like to think it was because it used to be good. Those days are long gone and nowadays I find it almost unwatchable. In fact most of the time I record it and fast forward through the gaps between highlights.
Europa League Suggestions
I have just watched some of Spurs vs. Maribor in the Europa League. It was an interesting match and we won but I just can’t get excited about this competition. It is the European equivalent of the League Cup. Winning it would be nice, but when the games come round they just seem like a distraction.

I don’t have a season ticket and tickets are fairly hard to come by at White Hart Lane so I don’t go to that many games. However, this year I am making a concerted effort to go more often and this was my second game of the season.
