Spurs return to Europa League action on Thursday night against Portuguese league leaders Benfica. It’s still only the round of 16, despite Tottenham having played 10 games in the competition to get to this stage. It’s at this point that all the effort begins to seem worthwhile, as we contemplate a knockout tie against one of the legendary names in European club football.

On Thursday night, Tottenham recorded a famous 3-1 victory to send them through to the Europa League round of 16. All had looked lost until a crazy 15 minute spell saved Spurs’ season. It was a dramatic and exhilarating turnaround.
Spurs took three points from their visit to the Liberty Stadium and showed a cutting edge that has been missing much of the season.
Swansea started well, dominating possession and creating several chances. Our defense looked vulnerable to through balls, as it has all season. However it was a corner that nearly proved our undoing. Dawson clearly pushed Bony – it looked a definite penalty but the referee gave nothing.
